Currently based in Tiohtià:ke / Montréal, Canada, Francisco Gonzalez-Rosas is a performance and new media artist born in Chile. They hold a Master in Fine Arts in Intermedia, from Concordia University, Montreal, and a BA in Acting from Finis Terrae University, Santiago, Chile. Recent solo shows include “pose & aparato” at Caravanserail Centre, Rimouski, and “the museum of the copy/pasted identities”, at Centre for Culture & Technology, Toronto, Canada.

Through performance, sound, video, and digital media, my work explores existing and speculative crossovers between the body and technology. My practice draws inspiration from the surfeit of imagery and representation of the self that exists within digital networks. I called this production strategy hyper-self-mediation, a process through which I aim to connect aspects of identity to the history and politics that surround imaging technologies. Likewise, my work emphasizes the performativity of image-making and digital media in its entanglement with contemporary Western society.
